I just finished downloading the 32-bit Fedora 13 DVD (3.1GB) as well as the LXDE spin (548MB) which I will try later on my old AMD X2 4400+ based rig and Compaq Presario M2000 series notebook respectively.

A brief description of the new features are written here, and the full release notes here. Earlier I was thinking of the PreUpgrade option for my Fedora 12 Desktop but now I would like to go for the clean-install instead.

And yes I mentioned LXDE “spin” a while ago. There are now Spins, which are alternate versions of Fedora, on different application sets and customized for various types of users, like the Ubuntu Derivatives.

For those who are new to Fedora, Fedora is a Linux-based operating system that showcases the latest in free and open source software. Fedora is always free for anyone to use, modify, and distribute. I was able to attend half of the webinar on Sudo Revealed…, hosted by Linux Magazine and BeyondTrust. We may not need this in our organization right now but I believe this commercial application may come handy in the future thus I am keeping this in my files. I was able to launch Space Invaders in my fedora box, with OpenOffice.0rg 3.1.1 (310m19), screenshot below:

All I did was:

Put =GAME(“StarWars”) into any cell and press ENTER. A version of Space Invaders is playable. Although if you try to play it again, the message “oh no, not again” appears. To play again, you must fully close OpenOffice.org.

Though there is a post regarding the removal of the module “goodies” related to the said Space Invaders game on DEV300_m72.
